Just days after we entered 2022, Apple officially became the world’s first company to be worth multiple trillion dollars. Of course, it comes as no surprise, as the company shares went up by 35% during the last year.
The rise of Apple’s shares started in 2018 when the company reached its first trillion. The second milestone was reached in August 2020, and it was followed by an unprecedented surge in demand for Apple products and services.
2021 was marked by huge worldwide demand for iPhone 13, as well as previous models of the device. Apart from this, subscription services were also a significant source of the money inflow for the company.
However, Apple might not be the only publicly-traded company with a $3 trillion worth for a long time. Several tech giants are threatening to join in as the pandemic keeps forcing people to resort to technology for work, education, and entertainment.
Microsoft seems to be the closest with $2.5 trillion. It’s closely followed by Alphabet (owns Google) with $2 trillion, Amazon ($1.7 trillion) and Tesla ($1.2 trillion) remaining further behind.
